Welder

Job Overview

This is a Welder role based in Houston, TX. You'll be working with metal ; cutting, shaping, and fusing pieces together using various welding techniques. The work can range from small repair jobs to larger structural fabrications. Most of the work is shop based, but you might also find yourself on construction sites or doing fieldwork depending on the employer. It's hands on work that requires steady concentration and a good eye for detail.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings. You'll need to figure out where welds go and what type is required.
• Set up and operate welding equipment. This includes MIG, TIG, stick, and flux cored arc welding gear. You'll adjust settings based on material thickness and joint type.
• Inspect completed welds. Check for cracks, porosity, or weak spots. Sometimes you'll use grinders or other tools to clean them up.
• -Layout materials before welding. Measure, mark, and cut metal pieces so they fit together correctly before you strike an arc.
• -Maintain a safe work area. Keep your station tidy, store gas cylinders properly, and follow lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment

Requirements

• -At least 1 year of hands on welding experience in a production or fabrication setting (apprenticeship counts).
