About This Role

The Role

This is a night shift Registered Nurse position on the Acute Inpatient Telemetry unit at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest in Houston, TX. You will be caring for patients who need continuous cardiac monitoring, and you will be the nurse managing their care through the night.

What You Will Do on Night Shift

You will assess each patient during admission and at the start of every scheduled shift, and you will catch and report any change in their condition immediately. You will perform the procedures and monitoring ordered by the medical providers, and you will document everything thoroughly and on time in the patient's chart.

  • Administer prescribed medications and watch for therapeutic response. If a patient has an unintended reaction, you act on it right away.
  • Respond to patient requests quickly. Don't wait to be asked ; anticipate what they need and resolve it before they have to ask.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers on the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow up care. You will translate complex medical terms into plain language so everyone understands.

Qualifications You Need

  • An Associate Degree or a Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of experience in an Acute Inpatient Hospital environment
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification ; must be obtained within 30 days of your employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification ; must be obtained within 30 days of your employment start date
