This one is for an experienced sleep technologist. The kind of person who's been scoring studies and running labs long enough to mentor the newer folks. It's a full time night shift position in the Sleep Center at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, and it comes with real responsibility. Schedule

You work 7:00pm to 7:00am. The days vary across weekdays and weekends. It's a full time night shift, so make sure that works for you and your life before applying.

What You'll Actually Do

You're not just running sleep studies here. As a Sr Polysomnographic Technologist, you handle the full scope. That includes scoring studies and preparing a preliminary report for the physician. Once the doctor signs off, you complete the final report process. You'll conduct sleep studies too, including advanced and complex procedures ; polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services. You'll do Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), Parasomnia studies, and Pulmonary Artery Pressure (PAP) with oxygen titration. You'll also make sure all the right data is collected.

Beyond the technical work, you're a resource. You'll mentor other Polysomnographic Technologists and students. You'll teach, orient, and precept new people. You'll develop and lead in services and training programs to help the team perform at their best. And you'll participate in quality improvement initiatives, because this lab doesn't stand still.

You work independently here. You exercise sound judgment and execute above average clinical skills, especially on challenging procedures and patient care situations. You follow the standards set by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), and Houston Methodist. Patient safety and customer service come first.

Qualifications

  • You graduated from an education program approved by the credentialing body tied to the certifications listed below
  • Three years of experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist in a Sleep Disorders laboratory or center
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (Basic Life Support or Instructor level)
  • You must hold one of these: RPSGT through BRPT, or RRT SDS through NBRC

  • You're competent with computers and can operate hospital and sleep study information systems plus Office software to keep patient and exam documents straight
  • You work independently and can handle difficult or challenging procedures and patient situations with sound judgment
  • You work well with people across the healthcare team and deliver excellent service to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
  • You adapt to multiple priorities with minimal supervision and stay organized, solving problems as they come up
