About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this sales job. It's for a Territory Manager with US Foods in Houston, TX. I've been placing people here for years; it's a solid company. They're one of the biggest food distributors in the country. This isn't just dropping off a product list. You're building the actual partnerships that keep restaurants and kitchens running.
What you'd be doing
You're the main point of contact for your customers. Think of it as being their champion within our system. You'll help them with everything from navigating our ordering platforms to planning their menus and figuring out pricing strategies that work for them.
- Your core mission is growth: selling more to current customers and finding new ones.
- That means delivering sharp sales presentations and managing your territory like a pro.
- A big part of the job is hunting. You'll dig into market databases, follow leads, network, and hit trade shows to find new business.
- You won't be alone. You collaborate closely with our product specialists, marketing, and customer service teams to get things done.
- Know the competition inside and out; their products, their prices; and use that intel to give your customers an edge.
- There's some problem solving involved, too, like smoothing out any delivery hiccups or order issues.
- Get ready to drive. You're in your car daily, visiting customers, checking in, making sure they're happy. The weather doesn't change the schedule.
The kind of person we need
We're looking for someone who gets how relationships drive sales in this business. You don't need a decade of experience, but you do need the right foundation.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least one year in sales is a real plus. So is any background in foodservice, culinary work, restaurant management, or hospitality.
- You have to communicate clearly, both talking and writing. Presenting ideas confidently is key.
- Building relationships is everything; with customers and with your internal team. A bit of cold calling courage helps for developing new leads.
- You should be organized, good at solving problems on the fly, and know how to negotiate.
- A competitive drive to beat goals doesn't hurt.
- Being comfortable with tech is important; knowing Microsoft Office or CRM tools like Salesforce would be great.
- You need a valid driver's license with a clean record. And sometimes you might have to lift up to 75 lbs., so be prepared for that.
