Oncology RN

About This Role

Oncology RN (PRN)

This is a PRN Registered Nurse position on the Oncology unit at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital in Houston, TX. You're an experienced clinician, working at what we'd call a competent to proficient level. The role is about providing professional nursing care to a diverse group of patients, some with pretty complex needs.

You'll handle assessments, help with exams and treatments, do patient education, and maintain records. A big part of the job is communicating and collaborating with physicians and the whole interprofessional team to coordinate quality care and hit treatment goals. You need to be clinically solid when providing care, using tech, giving meds, doing procedures, and managing emergencies. Acting as a patient and family advocate is non negotiable.

There's also a leadership piece here. We expect you to step up into roles with progressive responsibility. That could mean participating in or leading unit initiatives, serving as charge nurse or preceptor for students or new hires, and maybe even contributing to service line or hospital wide projects alongside management.

  • You must be a graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required licenses below.

Current incumbents have 6 months to get chemo certified if they don't already have it.
