About This Role
What This Role Actually Is
This is a NICU RN position at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital in Houston, TX. It's a Magnet recognized facility, which is the highest credential for nursing excellence. They've got 358 beds, 20 operating rooms, and about 2,300 employees.
The nurses here don't just clock in and out. There's real investment in your growth through educational programs and collaboration with physicians. The hospital's CNO actually meets with every new hire personally to make sure you have what you need. That's not common.

- Participate in professional development and nursing education opportunities offered through the hospital
- Maintain high safety standards in all aspects of patient care
- Document everything thoroughly and accurately
- Work within a superior practice setting that emphasizes meaningful collaboration

Education: A Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing. That's non negotiable here.
Experience: At least twelve months of registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment. This isn't an entry level position.
Licenses & Certifications:
- A current Texas RN license or a temporary TX RN license (you'd need to get the permanent one within 90 days)
- A compact license works if it meets current Board of Nursing requirements
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
- Any other credentials or certifications your specific unit or service line defines as necessary
The Hospital You'd Be Working For
Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital isn't some small community hospital playing it safe. They've got serious credentials: AACN Silver Beacon Award for their Medical ICU, a Gold Beacon Award for Excellence in their Surgical ICU, Primary Stroke Center certification from The Joint Commission, accreditation as a Chest Pain Center, ISO 9001 certification, and recognition as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. Their diabetes education program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association too.
The numbers tell part of the story: they handle over 21,000 inpatient visits annually, more than 230,000 outpatient visits, and close to 63,000 emergency room visits each year.
A Few Things About How They Operate
The nursing culture here revolves around those I CARE values I mentioned earlier. Integrity means being honest and ethical in everything you do. Compassion means treating the whole person ; not just their physical symptoms but their emotional, ethical, and spiritual needs too. Accountability means owning your actions. Respect means treating every individual with worth and dignity. Excellence means trying to be the best at what you do so others can learn from you.
The CNO puts it this way: they're "a close knit family committed to Leading Medicine" in their community. She takes a personal interest in meeting new hires because she wants them to have what they need to drive that mission of safety, quality, service, and innovation.
