You're someone who can handle both routine and complex lab work. That means you need to understand how different techniques, principles, and equipment fit together. • Organize your workload, set priorities, and meet expected turnaround times.
  • Investigate and help resolve any test discrepancies you find; notify management when needed.
  • Perform instrument calibrations, validations, quality control testing, maintenance, and function checks.
  • Help maintain the lab environment by restocking supplies as needed and using resources efficiently.
  • Collaborate with the patient care team by communicating pertinent information clearly.
  • You might also help teach students or new employees when assigned.

The Background We're Looking For

A Bachelor’s degree is required. One year of work or training experience in a hospital laboratory is preferred. Experience working as a generalist rotating through all areas of a lab is ideal; if you've got prior experience in blood bank, that's a big plus for us.

  • The independent judgment to recognize problems, figure out causes, and take corrective action.
  • The ability to recognize changes that are critical to patient care.
  • Basic computer skills; you'll operate multiple systems including Hospital/Laboratory Information Systems and Office software to manage records.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers in line with our customer service focus. This includes activities impacting safety or security.
