Mammography Technologist
About This Role
The Job
Memorial Hermann Health System is looking for a Lead Mammography Technologist to work at the Northeast OPID location in Houston, TX. This is a full time day shift position, 5x8s from Monday to Friday, 7:30a to 4p, plus every 4th Saturday from 7a to 3:30p. You'd be stepping into a role that blends hands on patient care with real leadership responsibilities.
What You'll Actually Do
This isn't just a clinical job. You'll act as both a lead and a clinical expert within Imaging Services. That means you're the person staff turn to when things get complicated. You'll handle complex diagnoses and patients from multiple services or specialties. You'll also help match patient needs with what the department has available ; staffing, equipment, scheduling ; making sure quality doesn't slip.
- Fulfill a leadership role in delivering and managing comprehensive patient care
- Serve as a clinical resource for other technologists and staff
- Monitor department quality by matching patient needs with resources
- Provide operations coordination and professional leadership
- Hold staff accountable for customer service, risk reduction, and process improvement (for hospital roles only)
- Ensure all quality standards are met across every shift
What You Need to Bring
The minimums here are firm. If you don't have these, this isn't the right fit.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- 5 years of prior experience as an imaging tech (CT Tech, MRI Tech, etc.) in an acute care hospital or ambulatory setting
- Current Texas Medical Board license (MRT) for Mammography
- Registered Radiology Technologist by ARRT (ARRT R)
- Registered Mammography Technologist by ARRT (ARRT M)
- Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support (BLS or ACLS)
And honestly? They want someone who's solid with technical skills on patients of all ages and conditions. Plus real leadership chops ; not just title based stuff, but actual ability to run operations and hold people accountable without being a jerk about it.
A Few More Details Worth Mentioning
The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30a to 4p. Then one Saturday every fourth week from 7a to 3:30p. So it's predictable but not monotonous. And you'll work alongside professionals from places like a Level 1 trauma center or the #2 rehab hospital in the country ; plus there's that Houston Rockets partnership thing.
The Benefits Part
A note: I don't have exact dollar figures on compensation here because they didn't list them in the posting. But Memorial Hermann does offer some solid stuff:
- Generous PTO that includes personal days and a spiritual holiday
- The chance to advance your career through certifications and training programs they support
- A work environment where your contributions actually get noticed and your voice matters ; they said it themselves
A Disclaimer for You
The details above come straight from Memorial Hermann's original posting for this job in Houston, TX. I'm rewriting it so it reads like something a real person would say, but I haven't added any qualifications or benefits they didn't list themselves. Always confirm specifics directly with them before applying.
How to Apply
If you meet the requirements listed above ; especially that 5 years of experience part ; send your application through Memorial Hermann's careers page directly referencing this role at Houston, TX. Make sure your resume highlights those mammography certs and your previous lead or senior level work.
