About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. It's a big one.

We're looking for an Associate Market Clinical Director in Houston, TX. This isn't just another admin job; you'll be the person responsible for the clinical performance, culture, and financial health of multiple primary care centers. You're part coach, part business leader, and still a practicing physician. Your time gets split between direct patient care and leading your team of Clinical Directors.

What you'll do

  • You have direct accountability for the clinical outcomes and day to day management of Medical Directors across several centers in your market. That means you're in those centers regularly.
  • The buck stops with you for meeting or exceeding the market's earnings plan.
  • A huge part of this is developing people. You'll manage, mentor, and coach your Medical Directors to deliver outstanding results.
  • You oversee talent development for all the physicians and nurse practitioners in your centers. Think leading practice sessions like shadowing and coaching, conducting one on ones, and executing leadership plans.
  • Cultivating the right physician culture is non negotiable. It needs to be fully aligned with our core model, values, and service standards.
  • You'll assist with training new practitioners and participate in recruiting and interviewing doctor candidates.
  • Building relationships is key; with insurance payers, specialists, community groups, and hospitals. Driving a local social media presence is also part of it.
  • You monitor the overall market culture and have to respond urgently to any workplace concerns that pop up.
  • Reviewing and approving center level referrals is on your desk; you also provide backup for market referral authorizations.

The other stuff that comes up

The Regional President might ask you to help with other things. That could include assisting with quality improvement initiatives, overseeing monthly scorecard reviews, providing training to other parts of the company, or helping implement cost reduction strategies. And about 20% of your time? You'll be seeing patients yourself as a Primary Care Physician delivering outstanding clinical care to your own panel.

What you need to bring

  • Excellent clinical skills are a must have foundation.
  • You need knowledge and hands on experience working within a managed care delivery system.
  • A solid understanding of clinical outcomes data and quality improvement processes is essential.
  • We're looking for someone with experience in population risk management or managing complex chronic diseases.
  • A history of being a natural teacher to other physicians will serve you well here.

The kind of person who thrives here

This role demands specific behaviors every day. You build strong patient relationships and focus on solutions that work for them. You're self aware enough to use feedback effectively. You hold yourself and others accountable without letting things slide.
