
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this opening. We're looking for a Food Service Supervisor in Houston, TX. It's a full time spot where you'd be running the day to day on the floor, helping lead the team and making sure everything from food prep to safety logs gets done right.
The Work
You'd be the go to person on shift, working with a manager but taking charge of operations. Your main focus is keeping things moving smoothly and safely.
- Creating work schedules and production packets with recipes.
- Directing daily activities for the staff.
- Overseeing all food production to meet safety and quality standards.
- Making sure food storage is safe, organized, and hazard free.
- Keeping to serving schedules so food goes out per the menu specs.
- Maintaining a sanitary department that follows all health codes.
- Handling weekly inventory counts accurately.
- Placing orders as needed to keep production on track.
- Supervising, evaluating, and counseling employees; you're there to help your team grow and work together well.
- A big part of the job is training and mentoring other food service workers.
- Keeping logs for equipment maintenance and completing all required food safety/temperature checks, taking corrective action when needed.
- Performing preventative maintenance checks and recommending equipment replacements if necessary.
- You'll need to juggle multiple tasks effectively throughout the day.
The role also involves stepping in wherever you're needed. That means filling in for absent staff, knowing what catering events are happening each day to confirm they're prepped and delivered on time, and being available for occasional night or weekend catered events. You'll attend staff meetings, handle communication via email, phone, or inter office mail, perform cashier duties if required, and help promote good public relations. Other duties come up as requested by the Food Service Director or Manager; your skills might be vital to start or finish any given task.
The Details & What You Need
The pay range is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. The schedule is full time; you should expect those occasional nights and weekends for catered events we mentioned earlier.
A few non negotiable requirements:
- You must be able to read, write, and understand verbal instructions in English.
- A sanitation course needs to be completed either before starting or during your first year here.
- You need solid knowledge of how to run an efficient, cost effective food service program.

The ability to do basic arithmetic is necessary. You've got to maintain emotional control under stress and be able to resolve interpersonal situations calmly. Strong organizational skills are a must; there are a lot of moving parts to keep straight.
