Float Pool RN

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Float Pool RN position at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood in Houston, TX.

You're a nurse who thrives on variety. This isn't a spot where you get settled into one unit. You'll move between departments based on where the need is highest, coordinating care for your assigned patients. That means applying the nursing process; assess, plan, implement, evaluate; and using your judgment to do it well. Your day is built around providing quality care for patients across different age groups, and you'll work closely with the rest of the care team to keep professional standards tight.

What you'll be doing

  • Support the hospital's philosophy by helping different departments work together for patient care.
  • The service you provide to patients, doctors, coworkers, and visitors needs to be consistently outstanding.
  • Show initiative; see tasks through and offer help before anyone has to ask.
  • Know your own limits and don't hesitate to seek guidance when you need it.
  • You'll prioritize your own activities based on what's demanding attention.
  • Catch errors, whether they're yours or someone else's, and take the right steps to correct them.
  • Understand patient rights around confidentiality, informed decisions, and privacy inside and out.
  • If an ethical concern comes up for a patient or family, you know the resources available and how to make a referral.
  • Aim for cost efficiency in your practice.
  • Your technical skills need to be sharp and meet established standards (you'll have an annual validation).
  • Use your specialized knowledge to assess, plan for, implement, evaluate, and document care for your patients.
  • Stick to the attendance policy. Be on time.
  • Maintain nursing care standards and follow all hospital and Nursing Service Division policies.

The essentials we need from you

  • A current Texas RN license or a compact state license that works in Texas is mandatory.
  • You must have an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification that's current.
