About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this one. I'm looking for an Engineering Manager for a team at Archaea Energy, which is part of bp. They're doing some genuinely interesting work in renewable natural gas and pollution control.
The Role
You'd be the Solutions Engineering Manager based in Houston, TX. The core of the job is developing custom equipment solutions for clients who need to control air pollution. You're not just managing; you're deep in the technical work, figuring out how to apply chemical and mechanical engineering principles to design the most effective system for each unique project.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own the engineering and design integrity for new abatement solutions.
- Develop new process calculation methods to model system performance, efficiency, and costs accurately.
- A big part of it is building and optimizing tools; like sizing calculators; that make the whole solution development process faster and more efficient.
- You'll evaluate new technologies to see how they could fit into future systems.
- Sustaining and improving existing equipment designs is part of it, along with new product development.
- Creating technical documentation like application notes and calculation summaries falls on your desk.
- You're the go to for technical support, guiding sales, manufacturing, field service teams, and sometimes customers directly.
- Developing detailed specs for entire systems and individual components is crucial.
- Putting together equipment proposals with technical descriptions, preliminary drawings, and helping with cost estimates is a regular task.
- There's occasional travel to customer sites to back up the sales and service teams when needed.
The Essentials You Need
- A Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical or chemical engineering (or a foreign equivalent).
- Between five and ten years of relevant experience.
- You have to know AutoCAD 2D drafting software. That's required.
- Experience building calculation programs in Microsoft Excel or similar software is necessary.
- A solid understanding of how these specific air pollution control technologies work: Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTO), Direct Fire Thermal Oxidizers (DFTO), Thermal Recuperative Oxidizers (TRO), Catalytic Oxidation systems, Wet Scrubbing, Dry Scrubbing, Venturi Scrubbers, Electrostatic Precipitators, Filtration Systems, and Absorption Systems.
The Pay & The Package
The base salary range for this position is $102,900 to $147,000. That's our genuine estimate for possible base compensation at this time. On top of that:
- There's a discretionary annual bonus program.
- A 401K program is part of the package.
- They offer a quarterly momentum bonus.
- You get health insurance, vision insurance, and dental insurance coverage.
