The Role

This is an Endoscopy RN position at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood in Houston, TX. We are a national learning health system, and the nursing teams here work collaboratively to improve clinical outcomes. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that includes providers, surgeons, and surgical technologists.

What You'll Do

Your day to day involves evaluating patients before surgery and taking responsibility for their preparation. That means handling intravenous therapy, giving preoperative medications, and verifying the surgical site.

• Participate in surgical site verification following hospital policy ; briefing, time out, debriefing, universal protocols.
• Recognize emergencies and respond appropriately.
• Deliver patient centered care while managing evidence based practices and continuous improvement efforts.
• Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently.
• Assess patient condition throughout your shift. Document any changes in condition along with the care you provided.
• Educate patients and their families about the medical condition, treatment plan, and follow up measures.

Scheduling & On Call

The unit uses self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance so you have predictability. Rounding happens with unit leaders including charge nurses to make sure your voice is heard on suggestions for patient care and workflow improvement. On call is required during select non business hours.

Qualifications You Need

• A graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing ; Associates degree minimum required; Bachelor's preferred.
• A current Registered Nurse License in Texas or a Multi State Compact License (if you have a Compact License you must get a Texas RN License within 90 days of hire).
• A current BLS certification is required.
• At least one year of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse specifically in Endoscopy within an acute hospital setting is required.
