About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this one. We're looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting the FAA in Houston, TX. This isn't a remote gig; you'll be embedded with the client's Engineering Services Group. You're going to be the person figuring out how to power everything from air traffic control systems to the office coffee maker, making sure it's all done right and on time.

What you'll do

You'll handle the full lifecycle of electrical projects for FAA facilities. That means you're in it from the initial sketch to flipping the switch at the end.

  • Plan and design electrical systems for new builds and renovations across various FAA buildings.
  • Get out in the field. You'll perform on site surveys to create accurate, scaled designs and detailed reports.
  • Test power systems. You'll also participate in construction inspections, including Construction Acceptance Inspections (CAI) and Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI).
  • Work directly with other engineers and personnel to identify and solve design or implementation problems.
  • Coordinate your piece with a multi disciplinary team. You'll generate the necessary drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics for site work.
  • Prepare full construction drawing sets, site specific specs, contract documents, and independent cost estimates.
  • Handle project management tasks. Think safety plans, work sequences, cutover plans, and all the related communication.
  • Generate Integrated Risk Management Checklists (IRMC), communication plans, and project risk registers to meet Operational Risk Management requirements.
  • Coordinate any required Work Permits for potential hazards like lead or asbestos during construction.
  • Sit in on meetings; pre construction meetings, on site construction meetings; to coordinate with stakeholders and other trades.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate construction activities to hit milestones, working directly with stakeholders and contractors.
  • Manage on site cutovers, testing phases, and facility restoration.
  • Keep your project status updated regularly for your team, management, and stakeholders.
  • You won't have just one project on your plate; you'll manage multiple towards successful, on time completion.
  • Review design and construction submittals from contractors.
  • Conduct internal design reviews of power projects designed by the FAA itself.

The background we need

A few things are non negotiable here. This is what gets your foot in the door.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a Power related field from an accredited school. With that degree we need at least 6 years of relevant experience. If you have a Master’s degree we need 5 years of experience instead.
