Dietitian

About the Role

This is a dietitian position at our TIRR Rehabilitation Hospital in Houston, TX. You'd be providing medical nutrition therapy, mainly for inpatient populations. Think assessments, individualized care plans, and patient education.

The schedule is part time, 20 hours a week. We need coverage for three days, with shifts between six and eight hours. The ideal days are Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but there's some flexibility on which weekdays you work.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the broader treatment team.
• Conduct nutrition assessments and establish care goals for patients.
• Develop and modify individualized nutrition plans. This includes adjusting for food preferences, tolerances, and cultural or religious needs.
• Document everything thoroughly in the patient's medical record: your assessment, monitoring parameters, goals, and recommendations.
• Provide nutrition education to patients and their families. The teaching has to be appropriate for the patient's age and background.
• You might also have opportunities to provide nutrition education in the community outside the hospital.
• Adhere to all our policies and standards around safety, time management, and quality of service.

What You Need

• A Bachelor's degree in Food & Nutrition or a closely related field.
• Registration as a Dietitian with the ADA Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• A current license from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
• If your RD registration was obtained after January 1st, 2024, you must also hold a Master's degree.
• Completion of the qualified professional experience required to sit for the registered dietitian exam.
• A CPR certification (Heart Saver level) from either the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. You can get this within six months of starting if you don't have it already.
• The ability to communicate well with many different types of people, both in writing and in person.

The Details

The pay range for this position is $27.62 - $41.43 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including your skills and experience.
