Diesel Mechanic

Primo Brands·Houston, TX

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Fleet Mechanic with Primo Brands in Houston, TX. You know those Poland Spring or Arrowhead water trucks you see around? That's the fleet. This is the person who keeps them running.

The Work

You're the one they call when something needs fixing, figuring out, or just plain maintaining. It's hands on from start to finish.

  • Doing preventive maintenance on our trucks and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting problems and making repairs.
  • Heading out on field service calls when a truck can't make it back to you.
  • Ordering parts and services, and keeping track of what's in inventory.
  • Documenting every repair and maintenance step you take.
  • Talking with drivers and managers about what a vehicle needs.
  • Keeping a detailed history file for every single truck you work on.

The Schedule & Pay

The shift starts at 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday. You stay until the day's work is done. Sometimes a Saturday comes up if business demands it. The pay is $39.60 an hour.

What You Need to Bring

A few things are non negotiable here. Some are about paperwork, some are about the physical reality of the job.

  • A high school diploma or GED works; equivalent experience does too.
  • You need to be able to get a Class B CDL with an airbrake endorsement. Don't have one yet? That's okay. We're certified to help you get it.
  • A DOT medical card is required for this role.
  • Your driving record has to be clean. In the last three years: only one driver's license, no suspensions or revocations, no more than two moving violations, and definitely no reckless driving, DUIs, leaving the scene of an accident, or at fault fatal accidents.
  • You must be 21 or older (that's a DOT rule).

The job itself is physical. You should know that going in.

  • You'll be climbing in and out of commercial vehicles; think 40 to 55 times a day on average.
  • The workweek averages 45 hours or more, with start and end times that can change.
  • The day is a mix of sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, and walking.
  • Weather isn't always your friend; you need to be able to work efficiently outside in different conditions.

The Good Stuff (The Benefits)

Primo takes care of its people. The list is long because they want it to be comprehensive.

Health & Wellness:

  • Medical insurance for you and your family members (including domestic partners).
