About This Role

Hey there. I'm a recruiter for HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake, and I've been doing this long enough to cut through the fluff. We need an experienced CVOR RN on a PRN basis. If you know your way around an open heart surgery suite and want control over your schedule, let's talk.

The Work

You're the RN in the cardiovascular operating room. That means you're responsible for maintaining sterile fields, prepping patients correctly for their specific procedures, and being a core part of the surgical team.

  • You'll assess patients before surgery, making sure they understand what's happening.
  • A proper "timeout" with the whole team before any procedure starts is non negotiable; you'll help lead that.
  • This isn't a solo gig. You're a resource for the entire Surgical Services team, so adaptability and teamwork are everything.
  • Bottom line: you deliver quality nursing care and represent what's good about the profession.

What You Need to Bring

We can't bend on the basics. Here's what's required to walk in the door.

  • A minimum of one year of clinical experience as an RN in the Operating Room. CVOR, Surgery, Surgical Services; that’s your background.
  • You must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • A current Registered Nurse license in Texas or a Multi State Compact License is mandatory. If you have a compact license, you'll need to get your Texas RN license within 90 days of starting.
  • Your BLS and ACLS certifications need to be current.

A BSN is preferred but not a deal breaker. Having your CNOR certification would also be a big plus.

The Schedule & The Place

This is a PRN position at our hospital in Houston, TX. It gives you flexibility while keeping your skills sharp in a major facility. We're over 530 beds and we've been here for more than 40 years. We're the only exclusive heart hospital south of Houston and a Level II Trauma Center. You'll be working with specialists who offer more talent and experience than any other hospital in our region. It's big hospital medicine with a community feel.

The Package (It's Pretty Good)

HCA supports its people well. The total rewards package covers health, life, career, and retirement.

  • Medical plans cover many common services at low or no cost; they include prescription drug coverage, behavioral health, telemedicine services, and even free AirMed medical transportation.
  • Additional options: dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage.
  • A 401(k) plan: we match 100% of your contribution from 3% up to 9% of your pay (the match amount depends on how long you've been with us).
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Education assistance: help with tuition, student loans, certifications support.
  • The "Time Away From Work Program" bundles paid time off (PTO), paid family leave (PFL), short term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), leaves of absence… it’s all there.

(Eligibility for some benefits can vary by location.) We also have fertility/family building benefits through Progyny; free counseling resources; adoption assistance; pet insurance; legal counseling… honestly too much to list cleanly here without sounding like an HR robot. The point is it’s comprehensive.
