Clinical Support Specialist

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Respiratory Therapist at HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center in Houston, TX. I've been placing people here for years; it's a solid hospital with good teams. They're looking for someone who knows their stuff and genuinely wants to be part of the patient's journey, from routine care to those critical moments where your skill really matters.

What You'll Be Doing

You're the expert on breathing. Your day is built around assessing patients, delivering treatments, and managing some pretty sophisticated equipment. It's a hands on clinical role where you're a crucial part of the care team.

  • Start by checking in on patients. You'll perform focused exams, listen to breath sounds, check airways, and figure out exactly what kind of respiratory support they need.
  • Your toolkit includes oxygen support, aerosolized medications, and airway clearance techniques. You'll provide these evidence based therapies across different settings; emergency department, critical care units, general floors.
  • A big part of the job is managing ventilation. That means assisting with placing artificial airways, starting up and adjusting both invasive and noninvasive ventilators, and constantly monitoring how patients are responding.
  • Things can change fast. You need to be ready to respond quickly to clinical changes or emergencies.
  • You're also a teacher and a resource. Educating patients and their families is key. You'll partner closely with physicians and nurses as the go to person for respiratory care.
  • Sometimes you'll be called to help stabilize newborns during deliveries.
  • The gear is on you too. Setting up, operating, cleaning; it all has to be done right. You'll make sure equipment is ready and maintained, transport ventilated patients safely, and follow every infection prevention standard to the letter.

The Kind of Person They Need

They're looking for a credentialed pro who wants predictable hours so they can focus on being great at their job. The schedule is consistent by design; it gives you the stability to build your expertise without burnout.

  • You must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RBRC RRT). That's non negotiable.
  • The education requirement is graduation from an accredited Vocational School program.
  • You need to obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within your first 30 days on the job if you don't already have it.
