Auto Body Technician

Classic Collision·Houston, TX

About This Role

Classic Collision started in Atlanta back in 1983 with a pretty simple idea: fix cars the right way, and treat people right. We've grown a lot since then, but that mission hasn't changed. We're looking for an Auto Body Technician in Houston, TX who gets that. Someone who sees a damaged car and knows exactly how to bring it back to spec.

What you'll do

The job is about restoring vehicles completely and correctly. You're the first set of expert eyes on a repair, and your work sets the tone for everything that follows.

  • Start by doing a full teardown so the estimators can build a complete repair plan.
  • Figure out every single repair needed upfront to avoid delays and extra costs later.
  • Follow the work order step by step, removing interior parts, trim, and accessories to get to the damage safely.
  • Repair body panels by hammering, filling, and welding; you'll make sure all the gaps and fits meet industry standards.
  • Remove damaged panels and install new ones using bolts or welds, then reassemble everything after paint.
  • Use all kinds of tools; welders, grinders, sanders, spray guns, you name it.
  • Prep all repaired surfaces by filing, grinding, and sanding before the vehicle goes to the Paint Department.
  • Fix or replace any part that isn't right.
  • Your final step is a quality check and a test drive to make sure the vehicle meets all safety and quality standards.

The basics we need from you

A few non negotiables to get started. If this sounds like you, we should talk.

  • You have to be at least 18 years old.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A background check is part of our hiring process for everyone.

The experience that will help you hit the ground running

We can teach a lot on the job. But coming in with some know how makes everything smoother. Here's what we hope you bring:

  • Around 2 3 years of hands on collision repair experience is ideal.
  • I CAR or ASE certifications are a big plus; we value that training.
  • You need to be able to read and understand written instructions and repair plans without confusion.

The day to day reality

Let's be upfront about the physical side. This isn't a desk job. You'll be on your feet, using your hands constantly. You need to talk with your team and listen carefully. There's standing, sitting, walking; sometimes you'll be reaching or lifting objects up to 50 pounds. Good close up vision and focus are important for doing precise work. These demands come with the territory of doing repairs properly.

A bit about what we offer

The work is challenging but satisfying when you see a finished car roll out. We try to make sure other parts of the job are straightforward and supportive.

  • You get paid every week.
