About This Role
What this role is about
You'll manage crews in the Wide Area Mowing Division. That means you're out in the field most of the time, checking on your teams, meeting with clients, and making sure we're exceeding expectations. There's no monotony here ; every day brings something different. You'll hire, train, and develop WAM crews to work efficiently and safely. You'll use the latest industry technology and apps to manage your team, schedule crews, calculate and track hours, and stay on budget.
You're the main point of contact for your clients. That means proactive meetings where you act as a consultative subject matter expert. You'll also oversee equipment maintenance and needs, and coordinate with other departments like Irrigation, Fert/Spray, Safety, and the Field Support Team (that's our back office) to keep workflow seamless.
What you'll need to bring
- A Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Turfgrass, or a related major is preferred. But an Associate degree or relevant experience will also be considered. Strong WAM and Large Mower experience, plus crew and client management, might take precedence.
- Two to five years of prior related experience with a professional landscape management firm. Government contracts or interactions are a plus.
- You can operate large riding mowers, load and unload equipment off trailers, and haul trailers.
- You know your way around power and hand tools used in maintenance. That includes riding mowers, string trimmers, various hand tools, pressure washers, hedge trimmers, blowers, and the like.
- Equipment maintenance is part of the deal ; cleaning, fueling, greasing, checking fluid levels, inspecting, documenting, and reporting problems.
- You have a genuine passion for client service. You love a challenge ; Mother Nature, budgets, short staffed on a Monday morning. You know the drill.
- Superb communication skills. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
Why you'd want this job
- Pay is competitive and you get paid weekly.
- Full group benefits package. That means health, dental, and vision insurance. There's a 401k with a company match. Paid time off and holiday pay are included too.
- There's an aggressive incentive plan on top of that.
- Safety programs that are industry leading.
- The company provides work shirts and safety gear.
- You'll be equipped with the most optimal and professional equipment available.
- Your customers and worksites are high profile, and so are the landscape results you'll deliver.
- Opportunity to advance within one of the fastest growing companies in the industry.
- A company that values and appreciates you.
