About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Sales Representative at AAA Hawaii in Honolulu, HI, but it starts as a trainee role. They'll train you to get your insurance licenses, which is a pretty solid deal if you're looking to start a career in sales.
What the job involves
You'll be handling inbound leads; from members and online; to sell AAA memberships and personal insurance like auto and home policies. A big part of the day is quoting, binding coverage, and entering all the policy details into the system. You have to learn the ins and outs of every policy inside and out.
- Follow up with current clients and look for new sales opportunities.
- You're also the problem solver for any membership or policy issues that come up.
- The role requires juggling multiple tasks and spotting chances to offer additional products.
- The schedule isn't strictly 9 to 5; you'll work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
What you need to bring
A high school diploma or GED is required; having a college degree is a plus. They'd like to see one to three years of sales experience, but it's not an absolute must have.
- You need decent skills with Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Your written and spoken communication has to be sharp.
- A competitive drive is non negotiable. You're working toward monthly sales targets.
- You must be able to qualify for both a Personal Lines Insurance license and a Life Insurance license.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable record is required.
The offer is contingent on passing background, credit, and drug screenings.
Training & benefits they provide
They put you through comprehensive training designed to help you pass your Property & Casualty and Life insurance licensing exams. They set you up for the role.
The benefits package is legitimately robust:
- Health insurance covering medical, dental, and vision.
- A 401(k) plan with a company match and a separate Pension plan.
- Tuition assistance if you want to continue your education.
- A generous PTO plan that includes floating holidays you can use for volunteer work.
- Paid parental leave.
- Wellness programs and deep employee discounts on AAA memberships, insurance, travel, entertainment… the whole suite of services they offer.
A bit about AAA
The hiring company is Auto Club Enterprises. It's part of the national AAA federation but it’s actually the largest single club in that network; nearly 17k employees across 24 states serving over 18 million members. They've been around since 1900. The pitch here is stability, brand recognition, and building a long term career delivering service that people actually rely on for peace of mind.
