Research Assistant
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this lab job in Honolulu, HI. It's with Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii, part of a bigger global network called Sonic Healthcare. They've got that "Great Place to Work" certification and they're looking for someone to join the team at the Straub Benioff Medical Center lab.
The Work & Schedule
You'll be on the front lines of patient care, but in the lab. Your main focus is handling specimens; making sure they're collected properly (which includes doing blood draws), processed, prepared, sent where they need to go, and stored correctly.
You need to be the kind of person who notices when something's off and figures out how to fix it. The job happens in a laboratory setting, so you'll be working with biological hazards and wearing PPE. Safety and following procedures aren't just suggestions here; they're the core of the job.
This is a full time, 40 hour a-week position. Your primary shift will be evenings, from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM or 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. You also need to be available for night shifts as a secondary schedule.
What You Need to Bring
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- You've got to have solid reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- You can operate general lab equipment; things like telephones, computers, centrifuges, and you'll respond to audible alarms.
It'd be a real plus if you have one to two years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or a production environment.
Pay & What You Get
The base pay rate is $19.74 to $21.71 per hour. Where you land in that range depends on your experience.
The job is benefit eligible. Here’s what that includes:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- A 401(k) retirement plan with a company match.
- Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays.
- Free lab services for you and your dependents.
A Couple Important Things to Know
This role involves routine access to protected health information (PHI). You'll get trained on privacy safeguards, and you're expected to keep everything strictly confidential. You should only access PHI when it's absolutely necessary for your job duties.
