About This Role

Alright, let's get straight to it. We need a per diem Registered Nurse for our Endoscopy and Special Procedures team in Honolulu, HI. You'll be working with patients under conscious sedation.

What you'll do

You're the nurse overseeing a specific group of patients. Your day is built around assessing their needs, creating a plan, and working with the whole care team to make it happen. It's collaborative; you're constantly communicating with physicians, inpatient staff, and other specialists to coordinate everything.

  • Use the full nursing process; assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation; for your patients.
  • Your focus isn't just immediate care. You help patients and their families set health goals and understand their treatment plans.
  • A big part of the job is education. You'll assess what a patient needs to know and provide teaching and counseling that fits their situation.
  • You're also looking ahead. This involves integrating health promotion and preventive care into every plan.
  • For any patient needing hospital admission, you'll initiate the nursing database and start discharge planning right from here.
  • The work requires sensitivity to psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs in every interaction.
  • You’ll maintain all documentation according to our standards while ensuring a safe environment that meets our safety and infection control protocols.

Who you are

First things first: you need specific credentials to even start here. No exceptions on these.

  • A current Washington RN license or a Multistate/Compact RN license is mandatory.
  • You must have an American Heart Association BLS certification (Basic Life Support).
  • You must also have an American Heart Association ACLS certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
  • A quick but critical note: When you apply, please include your license number *and* your BLS/ACLS certificate numbers along with their issue and expiration dates. Put it right in your application materials so we can see it upfront.

The role asks for experience in Endoscopy/Special Procedures/Conscious Sedation. An Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program is the basic educational requirement.

The job involves serving diverse age groups; from adolescents to geriatric patients; so you need to understand the physiologic and psychological effects of aging. Effective communication with those specific populations is key.

The professional stuff

This isn't just about showing up for your shifts. We expect nurses who are engaged in their own growth and the quality of our practice.

  • You identify your own learning needs related to the patients you serve and participate in programs to meet them.
  • Part of the role includes helping orient new staff and students when needed.
  • You’ll collaborate with managers on performance reviews for yourself and colleagues.
