About This Role
The Work You'll Actually Do
This isn't a sit back and delegate kind of role. You'll be the person who takes Hawaii Energy's transformational portfolio and makes it real. That means you're overseeing behavior based energy efficiency education, workforce development, and technology innovation programs that directly support the state's goal of 100% clean energy by 2045.
You'll report to the Deputy Director and work across multiple operational teams. Here's what that looks like day to day:
- Managing the technical, administrative, and operational side of the transformational portfolio
- Developing and expanding program offerings based on the latest Triennial Plan and what's actually happening in the sector
- Writing Statements of Work and Requests for Proposals to bring in outside subcontractors
- Managing those subcontracts and vendors directly ; tracking progress, fixing problems before they grow, reviewing invoices and terms
- Making sure the transformational programs hit their metrics and stay on track toward goals
- Connecting transformational initiatives with the Residential and Business incentive portfolios to strengthen community engagement and overall impact
- Keeping up with what's new in energy efficiency behavior modification programs
- Presenting on portfolio offerings internally and externally, including transformational and residential programs
- Whatever else the work demands
What You'll Need to Bring
You need a Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, cultural anthropology, business, communications, or something related. That's not negotiable.
Beyond the degree, you'll need six years of relevant experience in energy efficiency programs (utilities, sustainability, that world), community outreach, or education. You should know the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative and understand energy efficiency behavioral programs in both residential and commercial settings.
You also need a strong grasp of behavior change energy efficiency and how to deliver community education and workforce development programs here in Hawaii. It matters that you have intimate knowledge of Hawaii, Honolulu, and Maui counties ; especially the non profits, hard to reach and low income communities, K 12 schools, and the UH system including community colleges. That's highly preferred.
Other things you'll need:
- Solid technical, quantitative, and analytic skills, including report writing
- Experience with subcontracting and managing subcontractors
- The ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize under deadlines
- A track record of working independently and within cross functional teams
- A valid driver's license
What You Get Out of It
Leidos has been named one of Hawaii Business Magazine's "Best Places to Work" six years running ; 2018 through 2023. That's not an accident. They invest in your growth through mentoring, formal and informal project management training, and help getting relevant certifications. There's room to move up, and they mean it when they say they want you to keep learning.
You get a welcoming culture that actually respects work/life balance. And yeah, the compensation and benefits are solid. Pay range for this role is $73,450.00 to $132,775.00 ; though that's a general guideline, not a guarantee.
