About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this driving job. It's for Mattress Firm in Honolulu, HI, and it's a physical one. You're moving mattresses, not paperwork.
The Job
You'll be the final step in someone getting a good night's sleep. Your main gig is driving a truck (over 3 tons) to deliver new mattresses and box springs, and haul away the old ones. It's about getting the right stuff to the right place on time, and making sure the customer's experience is smooth from start to finish.
- Run your delivery routes according to the schedule you're given.
- Load your truck securely, deliver, and set up the new product in the home.
- You'll also handle removing the old mattress or foundation they're replacing.
- Get signatures for deliveries and pick ups; it's all about clear documentation.
- Keep your driver logs and vehicle inspection reports up to date; federal and state rules aren't optional here.
- The truck needs basic care, so you're responsible for routine maintenance checks and reporting any issues.
- There's some warehouse work too, like helping move products between stores or assisting with loading when you're not on a run.
What You Need to Bring
This isn't a desk job. You've got to be ready for the physical side of things and have your paperwork in order.
- A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is mandatory. No exceptions.
- A valid, updated DOT Medical Certificate is required from day one.
- You need to be at least 21 years old.
- The schedule includes weekends; they're mandatory for this role.
- You should be comfortable lifting or moving items over 100 pounds. You'll be on your feet, walking, talking, reaching, and handling product constantly throughout the day.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not a hard stop if you've got the experience.
- Speaking of experience, having at least one year in a related role (delivery, driving, warehouse) gives you a solid edge.
- Knowing how to manage your time so deliveries stay on schedule is crucial. So is being accurate with your tasks and paperwork.
- A little familiarity with navigation apps or systems helps. Knowing your way around basic Microsoft Office stuff (like email) is a plus but we can show you what you need to know.
The Details & What You Get
The pay rate starts at $23.00 an hour. That starting point depends on your specific qualifications and experience. There’s also a $2500 sign on bonus waiting for you.
The benefits are actually pretty good here:
