About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this RN opening at Henderson Hospital in Henderson, NV.
I've been placing nurses here for years. It's a real hospital, not just a name on a building. They're part of the big Valley Health System network, but they've got their own identity. They opened in 2016 and have racked up some serious accolades since then; Top Teaching Hospital from Leapfrog, an 'A' for patient safety for over a dozen cycles straight, and even landed on Fortune's list of 100 Top Hospitals. They're accredited as an Advanced Primary Heart Attack and Stroke Center, too. You'd be working in a place that's actually recognized for doing things right.
The Work
This is a per diem position with varied shifts. You need to be ready for that schedule.
The core of the job is providing safe, competent nursing care. That means following facility policies and standards while keeping the philosophy of Patient Centered Care as your foundation. You'll provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team on your unit. Part of that involves overseeing and guiding any employees under your supervision.
And look, they emphasize Service Excellence standards. You have to demonstrate those at all times.
What You Need to Bring
- You must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- A BSN is preferred, but not an absolute deal breaker if you don't have it.
- You need one year of acute care experience. If you don't have that full year, they'll also accept successful completion of an approved specialty course in lieu of the experience.
- A current RN license in the State of Nevada is non negotiable.
- Your certifications need to be current: BLS, ACLS (for adult patients).
- You also need either current PALS certification (for pediatric patients) OR current NRP certification (for neonatal patients), depending on what the specific department requires.
- Be prepared for other certifications as required by the facility or your specialty area.
The Good Stuff
They call it a challenging and rewarding work environment; I'd say it's a place that expects a lot but supports you to get there. They've got a comprehensive education and training center on site.
- The compensation is competitive.
- The Paid Time Off policy is described as generous.
- Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Drug Plans are listed as excellent.
- There's a 401(K) with a company match and access to a discounted stock plan.
- If you want to move around later, there are career opportunities within both The Valley Health System (VHS) and the larger parent company, Universal Health Services (UHS).
A Bit About Where You'd Be
The hospital is in Henderson, Nevada. It's the state's second largest city but gets called one of America's safest. It has that mix; plenty of parks, events on the original main street (Water Street District), master planned communities; but they talk about holding onto small town values. It’s not just a dot on a map; it’s clearly a community they're proud of.
The Bigger Picture
Henderson Hospital is owned by Universal Health Services (UHS). That’s one of the nation's largest hospital management companies; a Fortune 500 corporation with facilities all over the U.S. and even in the U.K. It means resources and stability behind the scenes.
