About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this driving job in Hayward, CA. We're hiring for our Dumbarton Express service. I've been doing this a while, and I'll be straight with you about what the job is and what we need.
The Work
You're driving a bus for the general public. That means getting people where they need to go safely and on time. It's not just about driving; it's the whole service piece.
- Your main focus is safe driving, every shift.
- You'll interact with passengers daily, providing fare information, transfer details, and just being helpful.
- There's communication with dispatch over the radio to coordinate everything.
- Part of the routine is filling out your daily shift paperwork, like logging passenger counts for each loop.
And here’s a big plus: the schedule is off on weekends and holidays. We have both full time and part time spots open right now.
What You Need to Bring
We provide paid training, so previous bus driving experience isn't required. But there are some non negotiable boxes you have to tick first.
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- A current California Driver’s License with at least two full years of driving experience is mandatory.
- A Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an air brake endorsement is required before you start.
- You need to communicate clearly in English, both talking to passengers and using the two way radio.
- The ability to read a turn sheet, follow directions for turns, and remember routes is essential for the job.
Pay & What We Offer
The starting pay rate is $26.50 per hour. After you complete the probationary period, a benefits package kicks in. That includes paid vacation time and sick leave. Paid holidays are part of the deal too, once probation is done. It’s a drug free workplace, and honestly, there's real room here to grow if you want to build a career.
