This role keeps the entire operation moving. As a Ramp Agent at Grand Rapids, MI, you're the person on the tarmac making sure flights get turned around on time. It's physical, it's fast, and it doesn't stop when the weather turns bad. You'll handle baggage, guide aircraft in and out of gates, and coordinate with ground crew to keep everything running. • Load and unload baggage and cargo. You secure everything properly inside the aircraft holds, balancing weight so pilots have accurate numbers for takeoff.
• Operate ground equipment. That means belt loaders, tugs, pushback tractors ; you'll drive these between gates safely without damaging anything.
• Guide aircraft movement. Using marshaling wands or hand signals you'll direct planes into parking positions near jet bridges or remote stands.
• Check fluid levels and perform basic inspections. Before departure you might check oil or hydraulic fluid as part of turnarounds.
• Keep the ramp clean and organized. Messy ramps cause delays or safety issues so you're expected to clear debris and put equipment where it belongs after each use.
