About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this RN role at Saint Joseph Hospital in Grand Junction, CO.

It's a 30 hour a-week position. The schedule isn't spelled out here, so we'd need to figure that out together. The pay range is $37.17 to $56.17 an hour, and where you land in that depends on your experience.

What the Work Is

You're the one in charge of the patient's care from start to finish. That means you assess them, make a plan, carry it out, and see how it's working. You'll use technology and proven methods to do it, and you're coordinating with everyone else on the health team; doctors, support staff, specialists.

  • Your assessment looks at everything: physical state, social situation, psychological health.
  • You build the care plan with input from the patient, their family, and the rest of the team.
  • A big part of the job is getting patients ready for what comes next after they leave; teaching them what they need to know and setting up any follow up or referrals.
  • You direct the interdisciplinary care team through delegation and coordination.
  • Managing your time, supplies, and resources effectively is how you keep everything running smoothly.
  • You constantly evaluate if the plan is working by checking goals, outcomes, and how satisfied the patient and family are. Then you adjust as needed.

The Professional Stuff

We expect you to represent nursing well and help develop others when you can. You've got to integrate legal and ethical standards into everything you do, stay within your licensure scope, document things accurately and on time, and understand the legal side of delivering care.

What You Need to Bring

  • A current license to practice as an RN in Colorado. If you have a compact license, it needs to be transferred here within 60 days of starting.
  • A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers is required.
  • If you have less than 12 months of RN experience when hired? Then you'll need to get your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of your start date.

A Couple Notes on Education

A BSN degree is preferred; it has to be from an accredited institution (and they will verify it). Here's an important detail: as of April 27th last year (2025), a BSN became a firm requirement for this role. But if someone was hired or promoted before that date? They're held to whatever the minimum was back then. Just something good for us all to know.

The Physical Reality of the Job

This isn't a desk job where you sit still. Be ready for it.

  • You need clear vision to read information, labels, operate monitors, and identify equipment constantly.
  • You'll be talking and listening all day with providers, patients, and families; you have to hear and understand quickly, especially during emergencies or when alarms sound.
  • The work requires manual dexterity for complex equipment and frequent computer use for documentation and medication prep.
  • You'll lift patients using your full range of motion. You'll bend down for supplies; some light items but also heavy ones sometimes too much weight there?
  • A lot of walking: transporting patients or moving supplies/equipment around including pushing/pulling gurneys which can be heavy again maybe not every shift but often enough..
