Assistant Store Manager

The Role

You're stepping into a leadership position at Shoe Carnival. This is a full time Assistant Store Manager opening in Gainesville, FL. You'll act as a key holder, help manage the daily flow of the store, and support your General Manager in hitting sales goals. It's a hands on job where you lead by example and keep things running smoothly.

What You'll Actually Do

• Open and close the store as a key holder ; that means you're responsible for securing the building and setting the tone for the shift.
• Work directly with the General Manager to drive sales and keep the team motivated.
• Handle customer service issues professionally and make sure every shopper leaves happy.
• Train and guide associates on store processes, standards, and how we do things around here.
• Delegate daily tasks to the team and coordinate break schedules so nothing falls through the cracks.
• Keep the store looking sharp ; you'll handle visual merchandising and overall presentation.
• Perform register overrides, safe and till counts, and cash reconciliation.
• Follow and enforce loss prevention procedures to protect the store and its inventory.

What You Need

• At least 2 years of retail or customer service experience.
• Previous supervisory experience is a plus, but we're open to strong candidates ready to step up.
• You must complete Key Carrier Certification within 60 days of starting.
• Flexible availability ; expect to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• You have to be at least 18 years old because of keyholder duties like opening, closing, and using store equipment.

The Physical Stuff

You'll spend most of your shift on your feet. That means standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the day. You should be comfortable lifting up to 25 pounds when needed.
