Payroll Specialist

The Big Picture

This isn't a chair warming supervisor job. I'm looking for someone who wants to lead a small team handling balance due and refund processes at a global consumer services company in Fresno, CA. You'll be hands on with the AR work while also coaching people, fixing broken procedures, and keeping things accurate under pressure. The role pays between $70,000 and $85,000 per year.

What You'll Actually Do Day to Day

• Supervise and coach staff on everything from training timelines to one on one guidance; you'll run refresher sessions when you spot skill gaps.
• Monitor daily and weekly assignments making sure quotas get met and aged items don't rot in the queue.
• Analyze assignment volumes, error trends, and staff development progress then report those numbers up to management.
• Review and update procedures for accuracy and compliance; if something's inefficient you flag it and suggest a fix.
• Work cross functionally with Customer Service, Reservations, Sales ; whatever department needs help resolving account or booking issues.
• Tackle ad hoc projects related to refunds and receivables including research and reconciliation of the truly messy cases.
• Keep detailed documentation going so everyone stays transparent and we actually improve over time.

The Stuff You Need to Have

• 3–4 years of experience in accounting, AR/AP, or operations inside a corporate or professional setting.
• A real track record of supervising, training, and coaching people ; not just saying you did it once.
• A strong customer service orientation; you're comfortable on the phone and writing clear emails.
• Intermediate Excel skills ; formulas AND pivot tables ; plus comfort working with large data sets without panicking.
• The ability to follow structured procedures while still adapting when something unexpected pops up.
• Solid math skills paired with actual attention to detail. Not just claiming you're "detail oriented" but proving it in your work history.
