Job Overview
This diesel mechanic position is for someone who prefers turning wrenches over sitting at a desk. You'll diagnose and repair heavy duty trucks and equipment, keeping them on the road and running right. The shop is in Fresno, CA, and you'll be working with a mix of fleet vehicles and contractor rigs.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance like oil changes, brake jobs, and tire rotations on diesel engines.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, hydraulic, and fuel system faults using diagnostic software.
- Complete major repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission rebuilds, and aftertreatment system service.
- Write clear repair orders and document all work performed for parts inventory and billing.
- Conduct final road tests to verify repairs meet safety and performance standards before releasing vehicles.
Requirements
- A solid grasp of diesel engine theory, hydraulics, and modern electronic control systems.
- At least 3 years of hands on experience working on Class 6 8 trucks or similar heavy equipment.
- A valid driver's license; a CDL or ASE certifications are a major plus but not always required upfront.
- The physical ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in awkward positions, and handle the demands of a shop floor all day.

The shop is loud, sometimes messy, and full of interesting problems to solve. You'll have your own bay but won't be alone; you can bounce ideas off the other mechanics when you hit a snag. Most days you're using everything from basic hand tools to OEM specific diagnostic laptops.
