What the Job Is

You're an RN in the Main Operating Room at Medical City Dallas. This isn't just about tasks; it's about being part of a team that genuinely cares for patients like family. The culture here is built on mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff.

We invest continuously in new equipment; surgical instruments, devices, patient positioning systems; so you can do your best work with safety and efficiency. Leaders round regularly to hear your suggestions on patient care and workflow.

A couple things to know: on call during select non business hours is required. And this is a big place; an 895+ bed tertiary care center with over 1,500 physicians. Patients come from across the country and beyond for the sophisticated treatment our teams provide.

Your Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients before their surgery and educate them and their families about the procedure and what to expect.
  • You’ll handle patient prep, including IV therapy, pre op meds, and verifying the surgical site.
  • A core part of your role involves participating in surgical site verification processes like briefing, time out, and debriefing per hospital policy.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies when they happen.
  • Deliver high quality, patient centered care while managing evidence based practices.
  • You're an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team with surgeons, surgical techs, and others.
  • Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, technical skills, and leadership to deliver safe care independently.
  • Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document any changes thoroughly along with the care given.

The Qualifications You Need

  • A current RN license is mandatory.
  • An Associate Degree is required; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • You need at least two years of RN experience in a hospital setting.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
