About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Med/Surg RN role on the Diabetic Endo unit at Medical City Dallas in Fort Worth, TX. I've been recruiting for this hospital for a while, and I can tell you they're serious about building a strong team. This isn't just another job post; it's a specific need on a specific floor. Here are the real details.
The Role & Schedule
This is a full time night shift position. You'll work 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and that schedule includes rotating weekends. It's set.
You're the primary nurse for your patients. That means you own their care from the moment they arrive on your shift. You'll assess them at admission and every time you come on, and you need to be sharp; catching any change in their condition is critical, and reporting it is non negotiable.
- You carry out the orders from the medical team: procedures, monitoring, all of it.
- A big part of your day is administering medications and watching how patients respond. If something doesn't look right, you act.
- Your job is to anticipate what your patients and their families need before they have to ask. You solve problems proactively.
- You'll translate complex medical info into plain language. Teaching patients and families about conditions, treatments, meds, side effects, and what to do next is central to the role. They have to leave understanding their plan.
You're their advocate. The model they use here is "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." Think of it as your roadmap for each shift.
What You Need to Bring
The requirements are clear cut; there's no wiggle room on these.
- You must be a graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
- An Associate's Degree is okay to get hired with one major condition: you have to earn your BSN within 24 months of starting the RN position.
- A current RN license in Texas or a compact state license is mandatory.
- You need Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
- They require at least 1 year of acute care hospital experience.
The Offer & The Place
The pay range will depend on your experience; we can discuss that directly when we talk. But the benefits package is substantial and worth looking at closely.
- Medical coverage includes prescription drug, dental, vision, behavioral health, and telemedicine services.
- There's wellbeing support with free counseling and referral services.
- Time away from work covers paid time off and paid family leave programs; there's also long- and short term disability coverage.
- The 401(k) Plan has a 100% match on 3% to 9% of your pay (the percentage depends on your years of service).
- They offer an Employee Stock Purchase Plan too.
- Education support comes through tuition assistance, student loan assistance help with certifications scholarships for dependents; they even partner with Galen College of Nursing.
A few more things:
- The hospital itself is a major player; an 895+ bed tertiary care center with over 1,500 physicians on staff many are leaders in their fields.
A Quick Note From Me
The raw posting had some corporate mission statements I'm legally supposed to include below this line. My advice? Focus on the concrete details above; the schedule requirements benefits; to see if this fits your life right now. If it does let's talk. "Nurses play a pivotal role... At HCA Healthcare we are dedicated..." etc. Eligibility for benefits may vary by location. We are an equal opportunity employer...
