About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this IT Support Specialist role on the IT Asset Management team at American Airlines in Fort Worth, TX. It's a technical gig, but it's really about making sure all our tech; from laptops to cloud servers; is accounted for and working right. If you're the person who gets why clean data and reliable systems matter, this might be your spot.
What you'll be doing
You'll be the go to expert for a few key systems: ServiceNow CMDB, Tanium, Flexera, and various cloud APIs. Your main focus is keeping our asset data accurate and our platforms running smoothly.
- Own the technical governance for how we discover assets and maintain data integrity across software and hardware.
- Deploy, configure, and tune the infrastructure that supports our ITAM and discovery tools. We're talking compute, storage, network, and cloud services.
- Build automation. You'll write scripts and develop tooling to make things more reliable, manage lifecycles better, and cut down on manual work.
- Design solutions that can handle failure. You'll architect backup plans, disaster recovery strategies, and failover patterns for critical systems.
- Lead the technical design for new infrastructure projects, whether they're on premises, in the cloud (like Azure or AWS), or a mix of both.
- When something breaks or data looks wrong, you dig in. You'll perform root cause analysis and engineer permanent fixes.
- Set up monitoring so we know how our platforms are doing. That means implementing logging, health checks, and validation workflows.
- Make sure any changes to infrastructure follow best practices for security, supportability, and resilience.
- Spot vulnerabilities or operational weak points in our setup and figure out how to shore them up.
- The documentation is on you too. You'll create architecture diagrams, runbooks for operations teams, and lifecycle standards.
- A big part of this is guiding other engineering teams. You'll help them understand our infrastructure patterns and how asset data should flow.
- Push for standardization. Your goal is to make our systems reusable and consistent wherever possible.
The background we need
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), or a related field is required; equivalent experience works too. We also need at least three years of hands on experience designing large scale solutions that are actually running in production somewhere right now.A Master's degree in one of those fields would be great to see.If you've worked in the airline industry before? Even better.
The skills you should have
- You're proficient with specific deployment tech: Kubernetes and Docker are key here.
- You know your way around source control with GitHub or Azure DevOps.
- A solid understanding of cloud providers like Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) is necessary.
- The ability to build solutions that are fast and reliable without overcomplicating things is crucial.
The good stuff
The benefits package includes travel privileges that let you explore the world on American Airlines flights.
