
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this ICU RN spot on the night shift at Methodist in Fort Worth, TX. It's a 314 bed teaching hospital with a newly renovated ICU, and they're Magnet designated. You'd be working 12 hour nights, 7:00 PM to 7:15 AM, with your schedule varying across the week.
What the Job Is
You're providing direct nursing care for critical patients. That means using the full nursing process; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. You'll supervise other assigned team members and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to make sure care is appropriate for the patient's age and development.
It's technical work where clear communication matters. You're building relationships to keep the environment collaborative. The expectation is that you own your performance and actively look for ways to grow professionally.
What You'd Be Doing
- Use the nursing process to provide quality care from admission through discharge.
- Your role includes creating and maintaining a safe therapeutic environment for everyone; patients, yourself, coworkers.
- Safe, accurate medication and IV administration is a core part of the day to day.
- You're responsible for the nursing components of patient and family education.
- Communicating clearly with your team, patients, and families is essential; you need to check for understanding.
- Keeping patient information in the record complete, accurate, and timely is non negotiable.
- Adhering to hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment through communication and teamwork.
- And there will be other duties as assigned; that's just how it goes.
The Must Haves (No Exceptions)
- A graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- A current license to practice as an RN in Texas.
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- A current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- A minimum of 12 months of recent ICU or critical care RN experience. The only alternative is if you've completed their Nurse Residency Program.
- You need to know hospital policies, procedures, and nursing care standards inside and out because you'll use them every day.
The Nice to Haves
A BSN degree is preferred. Any additional department specific certifications would be a plus. And you'll be handling confidential material constantly; discretion is just part of the job.
The Schedule & Place
The shift is from 7:00 PM to 7:15 AM. It's a 12 hour night shift pattern with a varied schedule across days of the week. You're at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX, which is a full service acute care hospital serving several communities in southwestern Dallas County. They've got some serious capabilities there; a Level III Trauma Center, a Level II NICU, recognized cardiac and stroke programs; so you're not going to be bored.
