The Role
This is an Electrician position at a manufacturing plant in Fort Worth, TX. You'll work on electrical systems and production equipment in an industrial setting. The focus is on safety, reliability, and keeping the machines running.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide repair support on multiple operating machines.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs.
- Respond quickly to equipment problems to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- Use your electrical and mechanical skills to keep machinery in good working order.
- Contribute to a safety culture ; everyone looks out for each other here.
- Install and set up VFDs when needed.
- Bend conduit and pull electrical wire.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Work with encoders, sensors, limit switches, and 3 phase motors and control circuits.
- Handle hydraulic and pneumatic systems as part of your day to day work.
- Take on other tasks assigned by the Electrical Supervisor or leadership team.
What You'll Need
- 2 3+ years of electrical troubleshooting experience.
- Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery ; motors, pumps, drives, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls, and power transmission systems.
- Able to troubleshoot PLCs and solve problems with mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Understand hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Can install and set up VFDs.
- Able to bend conduit and pull electrical wire.
- Can read electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Working knowledge of encoders and various sensors.
- Can install and troubleshoot basic 3 phase motors and control circuits.
- Know different types of sensors and limit switches.
- Able to read schematics, prints, ladder diagrams, and drawings.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Military training or technical school training in electrical technology or machine control fields.
What Would Stand Out
- 5 years of experience troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems down to the component level.
- A paper machine background ; it's a plus but not required.
- Able to work independently and also as part of a team.
- Flexible with hours and overtime when needed.
Physical Demands
- Standing for extended periods.
- Awkward or repetitive movements.
- Moving or lifting equipment, materials, and tools up to 50 pounds.
- Working in areas with fluctuating temperatures and weather.
- Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or moving in confined spaces.
- Must be able to enter confined spaces or work at heights.
