What you'll do in this job
This role sits on the Cybersecurity Aviation Cybersecurity team within American Airlines' Information Technology division. You'll work hands on with both internal teams (like Avionics Engineering, Cabin Experience, Maintenance Technology, Government Affairs, Corporate Security, and Corporate Safety) and external industry partners ; think Aviation ISAC, IATA's Cybersecurity Task Force, and oneworld partners. Your primary focus is keeping our digital aircraft systems secure.
- Drive technical research, planning, and architecture of systems tied to digital aircraft to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data from corporate systems, vendors, and customers
- Define security requirements and standards that blend industry norms with company technology standards across multiple security domains
- Consult internally for teams working on digital aircraft, ground systems, and communications infrastructure
- Support FAA compliance activities and other regulatory bodies from a cybersecurity angle
- Help coordinate responses to cyber incidents involving aviation technologies
- Maintain artifacts for system reviews, software development processes, and quality assurance in airline operations
- Run vulnerability scans on digital aircraft systems using standard tools
- Work with business teams IT groups and IS Risk counterparts to fix compliance findings while hitting risk reduction targets
- Adopt a continuous improvement attitude; solve problems methodically manage multiple tasks stay visible communicate clearly about schedule changes or delays
