Buyer / Procurement Specialist
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Buyer role. It's on the Procurement team within Finance, and it's a lot more than just placing orders. You'd be building the strategies and managing the contracts that keep major projects moving.
What you'd be doing
The core of this job is developing sourcing strategies and managing supplier relationships from start to finish. You're the main point of contact for business deals, both inside the company and with external suppliers.
- Creating and running RFPs, leading negotiations, and drafting contracts.
- Your focus is on long term contracts that build strategic partnerships, not just one off purchases.
- A big part of your day is working directly with internal teams to really understand what they need and how their operations work.
- You'll need to communicate clearly with various levels of management, both here and at supplier companies.
- Spotting chances to improve processes is part of the job; we want people who bring ideas.
- There's some team support work too, like occasionally helping with training or our Supplier Diversity program.
What you need to bring
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required. You also need at least three years of related work experience where we can see your skills in action.
- We need to see proven skill in category management, commercial negotiations, and securing hard savings.
- Experience executing complex deals in an environment that changes quickly is non negotiable.
- Your background should include work in preconstruction, construction, or other major capital projects.
- You've got to be skilled with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint; the whole suite.
- A solid understanding of supply chain concepts that you've actually applied in previous jobs is important.
- We're looking for strong negotiating skills and someone who's self directed. You'll handle multiple tasks at once without dropping the ball.
- The role requires good business acumen, especially around project management and financial analysis.
- A high ethical standard is fundamental for everything you'll do here.
Nice to haves (not required)
- A Master's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Admin, or a related field would be a plus.
- Any knowledge or previous experience with Source to Pay systems gives you a leg up.
- Strong project management skills are always valuable here.
- The ability to map out processes or analyze supplier risk would come in handy on certain projects.
