About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Senior Automotive Tech at Sun Auto Tire & Service in Fort Worth, TX. I've been placing techs with them for a while now, and I can tell you they run a solid operation. They respect the craft, and they pay for it. This isn't about just turning wrenches; it's about being the expert in the bay that everyone looks to.
The Work
You'll be the one handling the complex stuff. The diagnostics and heavy duty repairs that require real know how. Your day starts with a Multi point Inspection or Repair Order, and your job is to get it done right, efficiently.
- Diagnose vehicles based on your specific certifications and experience level.
- Perform all work outlined on the repair order with accuracy.
- Tackle advanced, complex mechanical repairs.
- A big part of this is communication. You need to explain technical issues and needed repairs clearly to service managers, advisors, and sometimes directly to customers.
- Recommending necessary maintenance to keep vehicles safe and reliable is part of the gig, and you'll document those recommendations properly.
- Safety is non negotiable. You follow procedures and speak up if something's off.
What You Need to Bring
They need someone who's been in the trenches. Here are the specifics:
- Previous experience as an automotive technician or mechanic is required.
- If you're light on years but heavy on certs, ASE certifications can stand in for some of that experience.
- You have to show you know how to use computerized diagnostic equipment.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- A State Inspector License, or the ability to get one within 30 days of starting if your location requires it.
- A High School Diploma or GED is needed. Experience from a Technical School will give you a leg up.
The Schedule & Pay
The schedule needs some flexibility, including Saturdays. But here's the best part: they're closed every Sunday. Every single one. You get your Sundays back.
The pay range is $30.00 to $45.00 per hour on a flag rate. Where you land in that bracket depends entirely on your experience and what certifications you hold. They pay for proven skill.
Physical Side of Things
Let's be real: this is a physical job. You're in a shop environment with noise, fumes, lubricants, and varying temperatures; hot in summer, cold in winter. PPE like safety goggles will be needed at times.
You should be able to:
- Stand for up to eight hours a day and move around the building.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and have full range of motion with your hands and arms.
- Regularly lift 10 pounds and frequently handle items up to 70 pounds.
- Communicate clearly with team members and customers.
