The Job

You're selling insurance, memberships, and some financial products right from a local AAA branch. People walk in for travel help or car care, and part of your job is to connect with them. You'll assess what they need, explain their options, and close the sale. There's also a steady stream of leads from their millions of members.

It's not just taking orders; it's building a book of business. You'll review existing policies for clients, recommend the right coverage, and issue new policies. They want you to network at local events to bring in new clients, too. Building real rapport is how you create loyal customers for the AAA brand.

What You Need to Bring

First off, the hard requirements. You must have an active Property & Casualty insurance license for this state. You also need an active Life Insurance license, or you have to get it within 90 days of starting.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year in a customer facing role where you used a computer all day. Think banking, financial services; something fast paced.
  • You have to qualify for and keep all the state licenses needed to sell Auto Club Group products. They'll also require you to get Health and Accident licenses if necessary, on their timeline.

Now, the skills that will make you successful here: proven sales ability. That means you know how to develop leads, follow up consistently, and close deals. This isn't order taking; it's consultative selling where your product knowledge matters.

  • You're good at prospecting and finding new opportunities.
  • Your communication is clear, both talking and writing, with a strong customer focus.
  • We're looking for ambition and personal drive.
  • You can navigate CRM systems and Microsoft Office without a problem.
  • Being a good listener who can figure out what a customer really needs is crucial.

The Details & What You Get

The schedule is full time hourly (non exempt), so you're eligible for overtime. The hours can be irregular with some weekend work expected. You'll be based in a branch office but might travel locally for events.

Let's talk money because it matters. There's a $2,500 signing bonus for new hires (there are specific eligibility rules our team can explain). The pay structure has three parts: a competitive base wage plus uncapped commission plus performance bonuses.

To help you ramp up: $200 extra each week for your first two months. $150 extra each week for months three and four. $100 extra each week for months five and six.

The commission payout rate is elevated for your first 15 months on top of that supplemental pay. There’s also an on pace bonus when you start. Average annual earnings range from $57k-$87k+, but with unlimited commission potential. And there’s an annual sales incentive trip up for grabs.
