The position is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, serving the local community's healthcare needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, obstetric, vascular, and small parts studies.
  • Prepare patients for exams, explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and safety throughout.
  • Analyze sonographic findings and present preliminary impressions to the interpreting physician.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and ensure the proper function and cleanliness of all equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to ALARA principles to minimize patient and staff exposure to acoustic energy.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program is required.
  • Active certification from ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International). Specialty credentials in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular are a major plus.
  • A minimum of one year of hands on clinical scanning experience is preferred; new graduates with strong externship records will be considered.
  • The job involves standing for long periods, lifting and assisting patients, and pushing heavy mobile equipment.
  • You need a sharp eye for image detail and the ability to stay focused during lengthy or complex scans.

What It's Like in This Role

The environment is clinical but collaborative. You'll work closely with radiologists, referring physicians, and fellow techs to get the story each image tells. Most days you're on your feet moving between exam rooms, using high end systems from manufacturers like GE or Philips. The schedule is structured but no two patients are the same; it keeps you on your toes without being chaotic.
