
About This Role
Alright, let's get straight to it. We need someone to run the maintenance shop for our fixed route bus operation in Fort Bliss, TX. This isn't just about turning wrenches; it's about running a whole department. You'll be the one making sure the buses are safe, reliable, and that everything behind the scenes; from the budget to the team; runs smoothly.
What you'll be doing
You're in charge of all maintenance operations. That means managing people, money, and machines every single day.
- Lead a team of fleet technicians, service workers, and cleaners. You'll be directing 10 or more employees.
- Handle all the reporting; daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports are part of the deal.
- Manage the maintenance budget and control costs. You've got to understand the financial side of running a shop.
- Keep our fleet of 50+ buses rolling. You'll prioritize work schedules, manage projects, and make sure preventive maintenance stays on track.
- Control parts inventory and work with vendors and suppliers.
- Serve as our main point of contact for the client. You need to manage that relationship effectively.
- Ensure we're meeting every requirement in our service contract.
The experience you need
We're looking for a seasoned pro who knows transit maintenance inside and out. Here's what that looks like:
- A minimum of ten years working on transit vehicles.
- At least five years in a supervisory or manager role.
- Hands on experience managing a team of 10+ employees in a maintenance setting.
- Recent experience (within the last year) working with a fleet of at least 50 buses.
- A deep knowledge of how to maintain and repair vehicles. You should know diesel systems inside and out; experience with electric vehicles is a big plus.
- You're financially savvy enough to handle budgets and accounting for maintenance operations.
- Technical competence across light, medium, and heavy duty vehicle repair and preventive maintenance is required.
- A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with passenger and airbrake endorsements is mandatory.
