The Gig
This is a Lead Dental Assistant role with Ideal Dental, based in Fayetteville, NC. You're not just assisting; you're a key part of how the day runs. The crew here handles everything from routine cleanings to complex procedures, and they need someone who can keep things moving while keeping patients calm and informed. It's a busy practice, and the team relies on each other.
What You'll Actually Do
- Assist with a wide range of dental procedures – you'll be right there with the doctor.
- Take dental x rays that are actually useful for diagnosis, not just quick shots.
- Prep and break down operatories between patients. Clean, organized, ready for the next person.
- Manage patient flow so handoffs are smooth and nobody's waiting around confused.
- Sterilize instruments and equipment – infection control is non negotiable here.
- Chat with patients about oral hygiene. Give them real advice they can use at home.
- Take accurate impressions and bite registrations for custom appliances.
- Run digital iTero scans for state of the art diagnostic data.
- Help with patient charting and documentation so the doctors have what they need.
- Work with the whole practice team to keep patient satisfaction high.
- Greet people when they walk in. A smile goes a long way.
- Train on the iTero scanner if you haven't used one before – they'll show you how.
The Must Haves
- A current Registered Dental Assistant License that's active right now.
- A valid CPR certification that hasn't expired yet.
- At least 2 years of experience as an RDA in an actual dental practice – no shortcuts on this one.
A Note About Location
Fayetteville, NC. For newly acquired offices (de novo locations), there might be some travel involved at first until things settle. Just something to keep in mind if you're not near every office right away.
