
About This Role
The Role
You'll evaluate, plan, and treat patients based on professional standards from the American Physical Therapy Association and Essentia Health's own policies. That means you're doing real clinical work ; therapy evaluations, individualized treatment plans, evidence based interventions, patient and caregiver education, and discharge planning ; for a full caseload. You'll also handle the administrative side of that caseload: documentation, billing, scheduling management, and other related duties.
Inpatient acute care adds a specific responsibility: coordinating and delivering durable medical equipment to patients, then collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to make sure transitions of care go smoothly.
Schedule Details
This position is scheduled Thursdays through Saturdays or Fridays through Sundays, generally from 8:00am to 4:30pm. You can flex and pick up additional shifts during the week if that works for you. A holiday rotation is part of it.
What You'll Do Day to Day
- Provide therapy evaluations and develop treatment plans that are specific to each patient
- Implement interventions backed by current evidence
- Educate patients and caregivers, and handle discharge planning
- Complete all documentation, billing, and scheduling for your caseload
- Communicate professionally and supervise support staff (licensed assistants, aides, volunteers)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to hit both clinical and financial goals
- Work with Essentia Health leadership and coordinate with referring physicians to keep patient care cohesive
- Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and the code of conduct
- Meet the core values, code of ethics, and scope of practice for your profession
- Flex to other departments when your home department schedule allows and patient need is highest
- Serve as a clinical instructor, join department or therapy committees, and pursue credentials or certifications that benefit patient care
Education and Licensure
You need a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree from a physical therapy accredited program. A current license in the state where you'll be performing services is required.

Compensation
$38.22 - $57.33 per hour, based on a 0.6 FTE (48+ hours per pay period).
