About This Role

New Graduate RN

Essentia Health in Fargo, ND is hiring new graduate Registered Nurses. This is a role designed specifically for someone starting their first RN position. You'll work in a hospital setting and be supported through a structured transition into professional nursing.

What You'll Do

You lead patient care from start to finish. That means you assess each patient, plan their care, deliver interventions, and evaluate outcomes. You'll guide and delegate tasks to other nursing staff based on their licenses and training. It's your job to make sure the whole team works together effectively.

You also contribute to the larger mission of the facility and Essentia Health. Every shift you're making a real impact on the community we serve. And you'll follow all standards set by the Joint Commission and other federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.

Who This Is For

A Nurse Resident is a new graduate RN with less than one year of RN nursing experience. You need to meet one of these criteria:

  • Be a registered nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program
  • Be a current or upcoming graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Start your first RN position with Essentia Health within one year of graduation

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current nursing licensure in the state of employment, needed on your date of hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, needed within one month of starting

Schedule

  • 72 hours per pay period
  • Every second or third weekend
  • Rotating 12 hour shifts
  • Day shift runs 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Overnight shift runs 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM

The Nurse Residency Program

This is a yearlong professional development program. It runs alongside your RN role on the unit where you're hired. The program is structured around evidence based practice and focuses on professional nursing concepts. By the end of it, you'll transition from a novice nurse toward a competent professional in a clinical setting. You'll develop better clinical judgment and decision making skills. You'll show clinical nursing leadership right at the point of care. You'll learn to incorporate research and evidence based practice into your care and link it to patient outcomes. And you'll leave with a stronger commitment to nursing as a career.

What You Get as a New Grad

  • Transition to Practice Support: You get comprehensive help integrating into your role and building confidence
