Hey there. I'm a recruiter for Ascension, and I've been placing nurses for over a decade. This isn't a generic listing; it's for a specific PRN slot on the Acute Rehab unit at St. Vincent in Evansville, IN. The team needs someone who gets the unique rhythm of rehab nursing; it's all about guiding patients through that journey back to independence.

The Work

You'll be the point person for implementing individualized rehab care plans. Your focus is on helping patients achieve their highest possible level of function, both physically and cognitively.

• Carrying out physician and nursing orders with precision is central to the job. Safety and effectiveness for long term recovery are non negotiable.
• A big part of your day involves monitoring progress and documenting everything meticulously. You're the eyes and ears, communicating any status changes to the broader team so treatment can be adjusted quickly.
• You won't be doing discharge planning alone. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to make sure every patient and their family feels prepared and confident for the transition home.

What You Absolutely Need

Let's be clear on the non negotiables first. Without these, we can't move forward.

• A Registered Nurse credential from the Indiana Board of Nursing is required before your start date.
• You need a BLS Provider certification from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. We do require you get this within your first month if you don't have it already.
• On education: you must have a diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing, or hold the required professional licensure at the time you're hired.

The Schedule & The Extras

This is a PRN position working 12 hour shifts on the Acute Rehab unit. Schedules vary based on unit need.
