Food Service Worker
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Certified Dietary Manager at a long term care facility in Evansville, IN. You're basically running the show for the dining department at one site. That means you're in charge of the food, the team, and making sure everything meets the standards.
What you'd be doing
You'll lead the food service program from top to bottom. The big things are keeping food quality high, managing inventory, and making sure every safety rule is followed. You've got to stick to the facility's menus and all the regulations; federal, state, local, and HCSG's own policies.
- Lead and support your team to hit quality and safety goals.
- Keep all the records straight: income, spending, food supplies, staff details, equipment. You'll use HCSG's computer software for this.
- Train your staff and run quality control checks. Sometimes you'll need to jump in and help as a dietary aide, cook, or dishwasher.
- Pass along instructions clearly from client managers or building administrators to your HCSG crew.
- Use protective gear when handling cleaning solutions. If something breaks or you need equipment, report it right away.
- Follow infection control rules like universal precautions and proper handwashing to keep things sanitary.
- Show up on time and get your tasks done when they're supposed to be done.
- How you interact with people matters. Be courteous with supervisors, co workers, client staff, residents, and guests; you're representing HCSG.
The stuff you need
A few things aren't negotiable here. You must have your Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification already.
- An Associate’s degree or higher in food service management or hospitality is preferred; it should include coursework in food service or restaurant management.
- They'd like you to have about two years of experience in quantity food production or service, plus some time supervising people.
- A couple of certifications are required after you start: Food Protection Manager (FPM) within the first 14 days; then Food Service Manager (FSM) and Long Term Care Food Service (LTC FSM) within 60 days.
- You need solid written and verbal communication skills. Keep a positive attitude when talking with everyone from residents to company leadership to get daily work done.
- The job requires compliance with COVID 19 vaccination policies.
- The physical side: lift or carry up to 50 pounds; push or pull up to 50 pounds; stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- You'll be doing routine tasks continuously throughout your shift.
- A basic comfort level with computers is necessary for record keeping and reports (including web based systems).
- They might ask you to finish an approved sanitation and safety course.
- You have to live within the service area of Evansville, IN.
