The Role

Hourly pay for this role ranges from $46.99 to $70.46. Your actual rate depends on your specific skills and years of experience, plus how you compare to others already in this position. Most new hires start below the midpoint of that range.

What You'll Do

This is an experienced Labor and Delivery nursing role where your voice actually matters. You'll have real influence on patient care through open conversations with your manager and through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives.

  • Talk with physicians about changes in a patient's clinical condition
  • Respond quickly and accurately when a patient's condition changes or they're not responding to treatment
  • Stay composed and professional, especially when things get intense
  • Handle general nursing duties in all Maternal Child Health departments with proper supervision
  • Keep patient charts accurate and current
  • Take part in performance improvement activities
  • Advocate for your patients whenever the situation calls for it

What You Need

You must have graduated from an accredited nursing school or have an equivalent education. A current Nevada RN license is required from day one.

Certifications you'll need to have or get within a specific time frame:

  • Current BLS certification
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. certification within 90 days of being hired
  • AWHONN fetal monitoring validation within 6 months of hire
  • ACLS within 3 months of hire or transfer
  • A score of 80% on the National League of Nursing medication test

You'll also need at least 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery experience in a comparable or busier unit, or you must have completed a Labor and Delivery course at Southern Hills Hospital that includes surgical suite training. Proficiency in Labor and Delivery nursing procedures and skills is expected, including fetal monitoring interpretation. You should also be skilled in newborn, maternal/child, and childbearing women (ages 11 to 55) nursing procedures, including assessment.

About Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center
