Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for the person who runs the Emergency Department at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, TX. This isn't an office job; it's where things are real, fast, and matter. You're the one making sure it all works when it counts.
The Job
You'll coordinate all patient care and clinical operations for the Emergency Department. That means you're the central point connecting physicians, nurses, and ancillary services to deliver quality care.
Your day to day is about keeping the machine running. You handle staffing, building schedules two weeks out, and managing supplies so your team has what they need. You'll verify all equipment is accounted for and functioning daily.
- Staffing is on you, shift by shift.
- Scheduling gets done two weeks before the start date.
- You ensure adequate supplies are available.
- All equipment needs to be accounted for and working every day.
The Specifics & The Standards
A big part of this role involves trauma care and maintaining high standards. You'll actively participate in assigned Regional Advisory Council (RAC) Committees.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate trauma quality improvement activities monthly with the Trauma/Education Coordinator.
- Review department and trauma policies annually; develop new ones as needed.
- Work with the Trauma/Education Coordinator to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate activities to maintain current trauma certification.
- You need 100% compliance knowledge with Core Measures in the ED (evidence based best practice).
- You also need 100% compliance knowledge with Premium Credit (best demonstrated practice).
The Clinical Commitment
You're not just managing from an office. You stay connected to the floor. And sometimes, you go where the patients go.
- You'll practice four hours of clinical or bedside nursing every week.
- When ordered by a physician, you accompany Level 1 Trauma patients being transported to RETGH.
- Participation in all unit meetings is expected.
- You'll share "call" duty with the Emergency Department Director and the Trauma/Education Coordinator.
- Serving as staff nurse or charge nurse when needed is part of the deal.
